It’s that time of year again—graduation season. Here at Cross International’s south Florida offices, we were recently visited by a special high school graduate from Canaan Orphanage in Haiti: Wesh Elisseau.
When we first met Wesh, he was only 6 years old and a bundle of energy. Today, he’s a bright 17-year-old with an incredible future ahead of him! In May, he graduated from Canaan Christian School with a high school degree. In the fall, he will attend College of the Ozarks in Missouri to study Pre-Med.
“I want to be a doctor. I like to help people,” Wesh told our staff with a big smile. When he graduates, he hopes to go back to Haiti and help his country.
Wesh is a testament to the good work being done at Canaan Orphanage. Raised in the ways of the Lord, he is a student of Scripture. His favorite Bible passage is Romans 8:16, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
“It gives me assurance that I am one of God’s children,” Wesh said with a smile. He knows that in God’s Kingdom, there are no orphans.
At Cross, stories about kids like Wesh are what inspire us to keep serving the poor. The orphanages and Christian schools we partner with are teaching students to follow the Lord, preparing them for successful futures, and breaking the cycle of poverty—one child at a time.
As Wesh embarks on a new journey, he has a special message for Cross supporters: “I just want to thank you. I love that you love us and care for us. God is pleased with you!”
Happy graduation Wesh! We’re praying for you as you start your new journey!
