Cross International was blessed this week with a visit from one of our long-time mission partners, Annie Chikhwaza.
Annie founded and currently operates Kondanani Orphanage, a loving home for abandoned and orphaned children in AIDS-ravaged Malawi. She’s truly doing God’s work in one of Africa’s toughest countries.
She told us that one woman dies every hour in this poor country as a result of AIDS—and the disease steals thousands of parents away and leaves even more children orphaned each year.
But Annie is making a difference through Kondanani one child at a time.
“I think you need to have a positive attitude,” she said. “And that positive attitude comes from Scripture. You have to remember that.”
Annie’s smile and simple faith shine like beacons of hope for the children she rescues. Sometimes she finds them in the streets; sometimes they are left at the orphanage. The little boys and girls thrive at Kondanani under Annie’s loving care—she even takes them to the village for treats now and then!
Faith is what Annie says gets her through when malnourished babies come to her too late to survive, or when she hears of infants being murdered because their parents are too poor to feed them. Concentrating on the mission God gave her—to save orphaned and abandoned babies and care for them until adulthood—gives her the strength to keep going.
“I’m founded on a rock,” she says.
Please keep Annie and the precious children she cares for in your prayers. Click here to help Cross International support Annie’s important mission in Malawi right now!
