Drought. The HIV/AIDS pandemic. Barriers to education. Cultural expectations to endure abusive situations without complaint. The women living in and around the village of Thanganyika face incredible hardships. An estimated 60 percent of these women’s husbands neglect their families, leaving their female partners to shoulder the burden of providing for the household alone. A gift to Cross International gives women the entrepreneurial training and tools they need to feed their families, leave abusive marriages, and ultimately escape poverty. Local women learn how to run a small business and have access to a two-year cycle of microloans and a supportive network of fellow entrepreneurs—at an average cost of just $39 per participant. You can support a female small business owner by donating to this empowering program.
Our Promise to You: Your gift will go to our Thriving Kids Africa campaign fund, which will then disperse funds to the comprehensive projects the campaign supports. Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for these projects incurred through June 30, 2020, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
