Rebuild Homes Destroyed by Cyclone Idai

Area of Impact: Housing | Malawi | Ambuya Development Center (ADC)
Amount Needed: $31,523

Cyclone Idai hit Malawi in March 2019. This devastating storm leveled villages, flooded fields and caused $370 million in damages throughout the country. The cyclone displaced 19,000 Malawian families. In the rural areas the Ambuya Development Center serves, the storm destroyed 335 homes. Eighty-five percent of the local population already lives in severe poverty—barely getting by on less than $1 a day. The center is helping the most vulnerable rebuild, so families can remain in their communities, live in a secure structure, and continue to work toward a life free from poverty. Help a Malawian family feel at home again: Contribute to the Cyclone Idai rebuilding project.

Our Promise to You:
Your gift will go to our Thriving Kids Africa campaign fund, which will then disperse funds to the comprehensive projects the campaign supports. Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for these projects incurred through June 30, 2020, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
