Cross International receives many heartwarming stories from our ministry partners overseas. They typically spotlight a child who is thriving after receiving food and an education, or a family who is experiencing newfound comfort after being given a new home. But recently a story of a different kind passed over my desk and touched my heart. A staff worker from our partner Grace Ministries in Lusaka, Zambia wrote a personal testimony. Her genuine love and commitment to the children in her care exemplifies the types of life-transforming projects supported by Cross. With our help, ministry workers like Esther Sichula are able to make a lasting difference in the lives of poor children and their communities. I hope her words and dedication bless you as much as they blessed me!
My name is Esther Sichula. I am a director here at Grace Ministries. Thank you, Cross International, for helping us provide nutrition, clothing, health care and education to AIDS orphans and vulnerable children here in Zambia.
I gave my life to the Lord in 1995 after joining Grace Ministries as a home-based volunteer. I opted to take early retirement from my job at the bank and take a course in social work and serve the Lord by serving orphaned and vulnerable children. I have always had a passion for helping children and the sick. So when I joined this ministry, I knew this is where my heart was.
I started out driving my car to distant villages and teaching six Cross-supported children about health and hygiene. Then our outreach grew and we were blessed to help pay tuition fees for poor children. With your support, we are able to provide many children in need with medical care and an education. Now the lives of these children have dramatically changed for the better.
This ministry has changed everything for me. Today I personally look after 12 orphans in my home. Ministering to these children is very fulfilling because as we meet their many needs, the Lord meets our needs through people like you as well. Thank you and God bless you!
