Meet the Phiri Family
Tragedy struck when Gervin Phiri’s parents passed away two years ago. This left his elderly grandmother, Gladys, with the sole responsibility to care for Gervin, 13, and his brother, Matthew, 10.
“Their mother used to take care of me. Now no one cares for me,” said Gladys.
The family lives in poverty: there is little money to buy regular meals, and the boys use empty sacks as a bed. But thanks to the Ambuya Development Center and loyal friends like you, Gervin and Matthew receive a healthy meal on school days, and they are even able to take leftovers home to their grandmother. The boys also enjoy activities and Bible lessons at the center.
“We play football, have running competitions, sing songs and recite verses,” said Gervin.
“Before, we didn’t have anything to eat. But after Ambuya started, things have changed,” Gladys said. “First, they were starving; now there is no problem.”
Thank you! Especially in the aftermath of the destructive cyclone in Idai. Your regular support as a Cross Mission Partner helped Ambuya Development Center feed and share the love of Jesus with vulnerable children!
