Thirteen-year-old Valeria came to Arms of Love five years ago with her two younger siblings. Their parents had abandoned them and left them homeless until a neighbor made a phone call to the Nicaraguan Social Services. Valeria was in terrible shape – malnourished, skin rashes – and since she had not attended much school, she was far behind her peers.
I guess Arms of Love was the right home for Valeria. She’s now healthy, outgoing – and smart: She just won a regional academic competition. Who knows? She just might realize her dream to be a doctor!
