WE RESCUED ORPHANS AND GAVE THEM HOPE

Ruimveldt Children's Home & Care Center (RCHCC) - Project 0313 - Georgetown, Guyana
Our Impact HIV/AIDS still carries a heavy stigma in many parts of the world — a stigma that tragically also attaches to AIDS orphans, who often live their whole lives as outcasts. In Guyana, Cross International helped RCHCC provide for the daily needs of HIV/AIDS infected and affected children. RCHCC identifies especially vulnerable cases and offers them a loving home at their Georgetown residence, where the children are given everything they need to live and thrive: food, clothing, medical care, education and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2015, 21 children between the ages of 5 and 15 were living at the home. A minority of them were HIV-positive and receiving antiretroviral drugs, while the others had lost parents to AIDS. Cross International funds ensured that these children received the love and care they desperately needed.

Cross International works throughout the developing world to meet the basic needs of orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children. Our goal is to cultivate young hearts and minds for the Lord, to bring the poor spiritual peace and to unleash the potential of boys and girls to achieve a more prosperous future. We make this outreach a priority because the sooner vulnerable children are reached, the more likely they will escape the self-destructive behaviors created by their early childhood traumas. Love overcomes fear and opens the door to hope and opportunity.

In 2015, we provided grants for 10 projects, and shipped material aid to seven partners, to support orphans and vulnerable children around the world (these numbers exclude projects that serve orphans but are categorized as education, etc.). A portion of that funding went toward Canaan Orphanage in Augier, Haiti, where children from destitute families were provided with a nurturing home environment and top-notch education. Funds also supported HIV/AIDS infected and affected children at the Ruimveldt Children's Home and Care Center in Georgetown, Guyana.
