Cross International

"Restavek" (from "stay with" in French) is the Creole term for child servant. Over 300,000 restavek children – most of them girls – live with other families, far from their homes. Although the "host" family may promise education in exchange for servitude, the restavek is more often abused – growing up illiterate and lacking self-esteem. Cross International is helping the Evangelical Baptist Mission of Southern Haiti to provide an education for to up to 50 children in EACH of 29 restavek schools where they discover what it means to be loved and cared for by God.
