In an impoverished rural area of Zambia, unsafe water and unsanitary conditions led to a cholera outbreak that killed many children and devastated entire villages. Since then, a Christian ministry has been going into the villages and working with local families to improve sanitation and give them access to clean water. This multi-faceted outreach includes educating villagers on healthful living, providing wells, latrines, rubbish pits, and hygienic dish racks, and fostering community ownership in the project – all while bringing the gospel to poor families who are unlikely to step inside the doors of a church.
